India is a globally celebrated destination for web design and development outsourcing. There is no doubt about the technical expertise of Indian design experts and cost advantages they bring but the trouble starts when one starts searching for them.
The number of companies offering services is quite astonishing; this makes it hard for people like me to make the final decision. After reading enough literature on ‘how to select design partner’ and 'features of expert web design agency', I finally decided to use Google for finding my future partner.

As someone looking for design experts, I was highly disappointed with first two results of Google.
The first one carried a lengthy list of companies offering web related services. Though I expected a single firm, I decided to study it for a while. The very first company was Italian, completely irrelevant to my India based query. On studying further, I found that the list carried service providers from all over the world. So, I moved on to the next result.
My expectations were low but the second one further lowered them. It was again a listing that claimed to carry top 10 web design companies; to my surprise, the very first one focused on SEO. Another thing that made a wonder was the way an SEO focused company scored 100% score in the overall ranking. I went no further and closed the link.
This made me doubt Google’s efficiency in furnishing results relevant to the search query.
Much to my relief, the results after that were technically appropriate.

Red Web Design, : Red Web Design is web services firm based in India. Though the website was relevant to my search query, its homepage didn’t leave a lasting impression. Testimonials: Few good reviews from clients but no additional details.

Experience- More than ten years if banner is to be believed
Catchway Technologies, : A web design and development company based in India, United States, and Australia whose above-the-fold attraction is domain name booking.
Something didn’t seem right.
Portfolio was quite extensive, though they all opened in the same domain.

Ably Soft, : The first website that caught my attention and made me explore further. A web services brand rendering web design and development services since 2004.
Homepage was quite impressive. I bookmarked the website for later in-depth study.

Miracle Studios, : Another company that instantly communicates its industry. The website makes rich use of graphics and colors.

Lexolution IT Services, http://www.lexolutionit.com/: After going through the last two ones, the website failed to leave a mark on me. The company is active in the design, development and maintenance business.
Industry Experience: Lexolution IT was conceived in 2006
The remaining three are as follows;
Devims, http://www.devims.com/: devIMS is a young firm founded in 2007 and offering a vast range of web services to its clients. It has a global delivery centre in Singapore and workstations in Chennai, India.
Homepage is not very lengthy but footer certainly is.
WebWorld Experts, http://www.webworldexperts.com/: The firm claims to specialize in custom web design, development, and CMS solutions.
Company mission: “We make your corporate image look good, no matter what type of media you use to broadcast your message to the world.”
Wonder Websites, : Another web services company that claims to be best in the business. Also active in the web hosting and domain name business

Results from US version of Google
When I ran the search for the same phrase with US version, few changes were noticeable with Ably Soft ranking number one (I assumed the listing page as not a service provider).
While every service provider I studied had certain number of positives, FATbit was the first one that scored in almost all the points I came across while undertaking research work.
Here are the things that really made me explore further;
- Cool header design
- Great user experience
- Intuitive navigation
- Nice presentation of portfolio and testimonials
- Vast range of services
As I explored the website, I learnt that it has been in the web services industry for nine years and has successfully completed more than 2000 projects. This made me skeptical and I searched for testimonial page. I have to say listed projects were quite impressive.
I have still not decided about the company I am going to entrust my business website but one thing is clear;
Appearing in first page or second doesn’t justify the quality & industry dominance of a service provider. Use Google to get acquainted with what you are looking for but after that, trust your intellect to see which one can cater your requirements in the best possible manner.

So far, fatbit.com seems nice but I will keep on researching because I want nothing but the best for my web venture.
